Membership is a way of saying, I choose KBC. I choose to explore the ways of God alongside these people as we worship, learn and fellowship.
We are created to be in relationship with God and one another. Membership is an intentional choice to walk your path of spiritual transformation with fellow travelers.
Membership is also a way of saying, I choose to work with these people. Ephesians 4:6 says, "From the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work." The imagery of the parts of the body each doing their own work means that all kinds of people with all kinds of gifts and skills and points of view and strengths are not only desired but needed.
Additionally, membership means I want to have a voice in the direction of this group. I want to be part of determining what we do and how we do it.
Becoming A Member
When you are interested in becoming a member of Kirkwood Baptist Church, there are a couple of ways you can join:
Toward the end of each worship service there is a “Hymn of Response” or “Invitation.” If you feel led to join you can walk down the aisle toward the front of the sanctuary where our senior pastor will be standing. You can inform him of your desire to join the church by baptism, transfer of letter, or statement of Christian faith. You will then be introduced to the congregation attending that day and voted on at a later business meeting.
One other option is to let the senior pastor know you would like to join and you are not interested in walking down the aisle. Simply send him an email and he will meet with you. It will be announced during the “Life of the Church” portion of worship and voted on at a later business meeting.
If you have any questions about what membership means or how to become a member, please feel free to reach out to the senior pastor or any other of our associate pastors.
