Hello, and welcome to Department C! —and "C" stands for "Community"!
Bill Crouch, Director
Most of us in this community are at an age where we're past the problems of raising a family. We're enjoying the best years of our lives. Grandkids are a real treat, and we finally have some time to spend doing things we like to do.
Even so, we find ourselves facing a new set of problems. We joke that it used to be that it was always someone else who got sick—now it's one of us! We're also finding out what it's like to prepare for retirement and deal with elderly parents.
Our community provides us with an interactive network of experience. If one of us is facing a particular challenge or difficulty, chances are, there's someone in the group who's walked that mile already. We counsel each other, drawing upon the experiences of the many.
In our community, we offer three classes; two co-ed classes, one led by Roger Richardson and the other by Steve VanAsdale; and one class for ladies, led by Peggy VanAsdale. Each class provides a small-group environment for study and discussion. We don't just learn about the Bible—we try to find its relevance to our daily lives. The prevailing question is always, "What does this mean to me today?"
One of the most significant aspects of being a community is being together and doing things together...whether we're serving as volunteers for specific missions projects, having dinner together as a class, or finding crazy "gifts" for our notorious White Elephant Christmas Party! No matter what, when we're together, its fun.
There's always room for more in our community...why not come by at 9:15 a.m. on Sunday and see for yourself.
