Behold, I make all things new… (Rev. 21:5)
I've often thought that one of the greatest gifts God has given us is the gift of a new day. There are a few things, mercifully a very few things, which a good night’s rest won't improve. The morning's vista is almost always an improvement. Particularly when the air is fresh and there is a slight breeze laced with the aroma of coffee. Every day is a new day. But this is a particularly new day for KBC. New things are being born. Let me mention a few.
A New Adult Bible Study (Go Sunday!) I’m hope you’ve already decided where you’re going to attend on Sunday, but if not look at the information in the brochure we mailed you, or you can find it on the website (or condensed on page 1). My prayer is that we’ll all find a renewing study of the Bible. Hats off to the Adult Bible Study Service Team for their creative work!
A New Minister If you haven’t already introduced yourself to Greg Lundberg please do so soon. Greg is fitting in perfectly, seeing things with fresh eyes. He’s going to be a blessing at KBC. Please continue to pray for Polly, Ashley (freshman at the University of Minnesota) and Chelsea (high school at Parkway South).
A New Country - KBC has participated in numerous mission trips. But we’ve never taken a group to Serbia. I hope you’ll come for the Serbian meal experience on Aug. 30, and the commissioning on Sept. 3. The 10 of us going appreciate your prayers. And you will be able to follow our progress through the week on this blog.
A New Service Team was created by the Ministry Council. It has named itself “God’s Green Earth Service Team.” You’ll be hearing more about this soon, but we are working on initiatives that will educate our responsibility to be good stewards of God’s earth AND we will work to help KBC apply good stewardship.
A New Smell in the Great Hall foyer … well aroma is the better term. Some months ago I talked with Mike Hethcote about helping to create a “coffee house” area at KBC. With the help of O.K. Shellhammer and the encouragement of the Ministry Council, he has helped to
create a beautiful space which will facilitate fellowship and encourage interaction. Possibly you saw it on Sunday. You’ll be hearing (and smelling) more about it very soon.
May God bless this new day!
Scott
