Community for Understanding and Healing

Kirkwood Baptist Church
Est. in 1870 KBC continues on a journey of missional faithfulness seeking to be the presence of Christ in our community. With our mission to “care and reconcile,” we are happy to be a supportive part of Kirkwood’s Community for Understanding and Healing. Here are a few of the summer 08 activities CFUH is supporting and promoting:

Meacham Park Homecoming
Put on your walking shoes and join CFUH as part of the Meacham Park parade and homecoming, Saturday, June 7 at 11:00 a.m. There will be food, fun, and games for the kids.

Summer Book Club, co-sponsored by CFUH and the Kirkwood Public Library. Three books have been selected to stimulate discussion about race relations. Meets at the library in June, July and August.

Summer of Hope Teen Reading Program A Summer of Hope gives teens an incentive to open a book - they can earn up to $100 for school clothes and supplies. June through August - Reading List provided.

Social at the Magic House
Come bring the family, children and grandchildren for a free evening of fun with other CFUH members. The Magic House is making this free evening available as a way of supporting understanding and friendship among all community members. Date TBD.

Community Gospel Choir
The Community Gospel Choir is a group of people from many different churches and different parts of the St. Louis area. Through their spirited interpretation of the rich tradition of African-American gospel music, the choir is working to break down racial, cultural and economic barriers in our community.

Youth Sunday

Sunday, May 18th

Our youth will be leading in all aspects of worship and will be teaching Adult Sunday School classes. Also, 3 of our seniors, Michelle Lange, Robert Jackson and Chelsea Lundberg, will be preaching.

Youth Sunday is a day when we celebrate our youth; their abilities, their gifts, their personalities and their potential.

Please join the youth of KBC as they

share their talents
share in song
and share the Word

May our sons in their youth be like plants full grown, our daughters like corner pillars. Psalm 144:12

During the 10:30 am service, we will be recognizing our high school seniors.

Michelle Lange, Robert Jackson, Daniel Copeland, Chelsea Lundberg, Samantha Davis, Laura Swank, Craig Osborne, Chris Henquinet and Katherine Wamble

(Look for their pictures in next week’s Kindler.)
