Hey y'all --

Just thought I'd send in a little update to y'all about my first week and
a half here in Alabama. Well, we got our first youth group in Sunday
night and they're doing construction projects and a VBS here in Perry
County. I've spent some time helping out at the VBS, but also visiting
some of the sites. Today, I went to the local elementary school and
tutored three boys in reading that are in summer school and going into
first grade next year. I'll be going back Friday, as well as Monday,
Wednesday, Friday next week. It's good to finally have groups here
working and stuff to do. At night, they have a short devotion time where
we sing songs and I go and play dodgeball with them after, which gets
pretty intense (the right side of my body is VERY sore from throwing).
Things are going well though, but very hot. Next week will be similar
to this week in that I'll be doing a variety of things (it's the busiest
week of the summer here), but the last week of June I'll be working
with a church coming in to run a very big VBS/sports/music/drama camp on
campus. They expect about 150 kids each year and that will be the big
week for me.
