Stem Cell Colloquium Oct. 15, 3 p.m.
On Sunday October 15, Kirkwood Baptist Church will host a Stem Cell Colloquium at 3:00 pm at the church. It should last approximately 90 minutes. The purpose of the colloquium is to hear from a small panel of experts who can speak to both the biological and ethical sides of the current stem-cell debate. The panel and discussion will be intentionally educational and not political. The motivation for this round table is the sense that more education (and less pontificating) is needed around the stem cell research issue.
The panel will consist of:
James E. Huettner, Ph. D., Department of Cell Biology,
Washington University Medical School.
The biology of stem-cell research
Steven L. Teitelbaum, M.D. Washington University School of Medicine, Department of Pathology and Immunology
Potential therapies from stem-cell research
David Jones, Ph.D. Ethicist, Covenant Seminary
Models of Christian thinking about stem-cell research
Scott Stearman, Ph. D., Senior Pastor, will moderate the meeting and lead a Q and A session. All are invited.
